This is the place to be for looking
at Billy's favorite pictures
| The following five of Billy's favorite pictures are fairly large, so Billy has put them in a zip file for you to download if you wish. To view them you will need WinZip to unzip the picture. You can warp over to Winzips home page and down load a trial version there. |
Orion
Nebula also known as M42 ( M for Charles Messier
) is probably going to be the most beautiful picture of the sky you will
ever lay your eyes on. This picture was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
M42 can be seen in the winter months with out optical aide, but Billy enjoys
looking at it with a simple pair of Binoculars. M42 lays just 1,500 light
years from home. |

Starbirth
Clouds picture is to Billy second only to
Orion and a must see for any one who appreciates beauty. The cloud is in
M16 and is about 5,870 light years away.
Hourglass
Nebula is another one of Billy's favorite
pictures taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Billy dosn't know to much
about this one but it sure is a good looker.
M31
a Galaxy, is our closest neighbor, that
is to the Milky Way ( the Milky Way is the Galaxy where our Solar System
is ) and still it is some 2.3 million light years away. Oh yeh, I should
mention that M31 is on a collision course with us ( the Milky Way Galaxy
), but don't worry that will be some time from now. After all at present
it will take 2.3 million years to get here and that's if it were traveling
at the speed of light, in which case it would never get here.Go figure.
Mir
Space Station built by the Russians for space
science experimentation, the United States has rented some room on the
Mir to better prepare us for the new International Space Station which
begins construction in 98'. |
