BILLY'S FAVORITE PLACES

Warp over to some of Billy's favorite places

Astronomy Magazine is the world's largest English-language magazine for Astronomy hobbyists. Produced by Kalmbach Publishing Co., it is read by over 300,000 persons each month.
This is the place to be when Billy wants to know what is going on up above the clouds, when best to see it and what to see it with.

Sky & Telescope Magazine is another source of information that Billy just can not get enough of. When you are limited to only a couple of bucks a month, it is almost impossible to decide what one of the two major magazines you should subscribe to. Thank stars that they have these up here in cyber space so that we can learn from and enjoy them both.

Mars Ploral Lander The Mars Polar Lander spacecraft was launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) Space Launch Complex 17 (SLC-17) during a 25 day launch period beginning on January 3, 1999.

Cassini Mission to Saturn And Its Moon Titan
On Oct. 15, 1997 Cassini began its seven-year trip to Saturn, where it will investigate the planet's rings, magnetic fields and icy moons. The European-built Hugyens probe will descend into the atmosphere of Saturn's satellite Titan. Cassini will reach Saturn on July 1, 2004.

Galileo Launched in 1989, the Galileo spacecraft arrived at Jupiter on December 7, 1995, when it fired its main engine for a successful orbit capture around Jupiter. On that day, Galileo's atmospheric probe plunged into Jupiter's atmosphere and relayed information on the structure and composition of the solar system's largest planet. The spacecraft's orbiter will spend the next two years orbiting the giant planet, studying Jupiter and its moons (encountering one moon during each orbit), and returning a steady stream of images and scientific data. After completing its primary mission, Galileo will then begin its two year extended mission called the Galileo Europa Mission.

NASA Natioal Aeronautics & Space Administation
This is where to find any and all things regarding the USA's efforts in space exploration.

Mars Pathfinder Soujurnor Rover bounced acrossed the surface of Mars on 4 July 1997, once comming to rest and after having all systems checked the Rover began it's tour of Mars taking pictures of the surrounding ares and sampling many of the Martian rocks it encountered. Not since the Viking Landers ( I & II ) way back in 1976 have we seen such an overwhelming amount of new information about Mars.
But you better get out your 3-D Gasses for this one, for here you will find some 3-D pictures that were taken by Soujurnor that will put you there on the surface of Mars along side the Carl Sagan Memorial Station.

Mars Global Surveyorspacecraft was launched from the Cape Canaveral Air Station in Florida on 7 November 1996 and is now in the process of "Aerobraking" to settel into a cicular orbit around Mars where it will take detailed images of Mars unlike those ever seen befor as well as other scientific studys. Here you can see up to the minute computer generated pictures of the spacecraft in relation to Mars as it continues it's Aerobraking maneuvers.

Deep Space 1 Through this web site you can witness the launch and follow the flight of this spacecraft as it tests 12 exciting new technologies and flies by an asteroid.
Deep Space 1's mission to "validate" technologies will pioneer the way for future spacecraft to have an arsenal of technical capabilities for exploring the universe.

SEDS Students for the Explortation and Development of Space
This is another, like so many, areas on the net that deals with astronomy related subjects and pictures that befor he knows it Billy has spent about three or four hours checking out all that real neat stuff and all of a sudden it's bed time for Billy. But Billy's just getting started. Will he be late? Probably so! This place is loaded to the gills with great stuff.
